SUBMIT A FILM

Planet in Focus is celebrating our 20th anniversary as Canada’s leading environmental film organization, showcasing and promoting outstanding films with environmental messaging in all genres by Canadian and international filmmakers.

Only films completed after January 1st, 2017 will be considered for official selection. Film and new media submissions include stories and explorations of urban and rural spaces; wildlife; social, cultural and political environments; farming; Aboriginal perspectives; health and environment; climate change; human displacement; war; globalization; water; farming; forests; food security and more. All styles and genres are welcome, including but not limited to documentaries, dramatic, experimental, short films, animation, youth and educational. All foreign language films must have English subtitles.

In addition to our regular public screenings, gala and special events include an Industry Conference with panels, workshops and pitch sessions; a free family program with youth yoga, and academic Fest Forum screenings and panel discussions with local experts.

Planet in Focus also produces a variety of educational programs for students across Canada. Youth related and educational programming is a major focus of our mandate. Please submit all age and curriculum ranges of student-focused films for consideration for the festival and year round educational programming.

Fees and Deadlines
Early Bird Submission Deadline – March 15, 2019
Short Films – $15 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $25 CDN

General Submission Deadline – April 26, 2019
Short Films – $20 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $30 CDN

Final Extended Deadline – May 17, 2019
Short Films – $25 CDN
Mid-Length & Feature Films (30 minutes or more) – $35 CDN
