Planet in Focus’ senior programmer Marc Glassman, who is an Adjunct Professor in the Documentary Media program at Ryerson University, will be delivering a lecture on the history of Ontario environmental films accompanied by clips. The survey of films covers 110 years, from footage of the Great Fire of Toronto in 1905 to Su Rynard’s 2015 documentary The Messenger which investigated the perilous lives of birds in North America.

A short film reel featuring environmental photography from established and up and coming Ontario artists will play before every screening throughout the festival. Featured artists include: Dr. Roberta Bondar (above), Edward Burtynsky, Brent Wesley, Brandon Price, and Meryl McMaster.
