Planet in Focus invites classes across Ontario to submit short environmental films to screen at the Planet in Focus Student Film Festival taking place at The Royal Cinema on Thursday, June 4, 2020
HOW TO SUBMIT
Submission Process:
- Label each film file “School Name_Project Title”.mov or pdf
- Complete the forms: Application Form; Teacher Media Release Form; Student Media Release Form
- Upload both files and the film to the Student Film Festival Submission Folder.
Potential Topics: food security, climate change, waste reduction, energy conservation, water pollution or any environmental theme of your choice.
Genres: PSA, animation, live action, drama, comedy
Maximum Run Time: 4 Minutes
Submission Deadline: Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11:59pm EST

STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL FAQ
What is the film festival?
Elementary and high school students are invited to submit films to Planet in Focus that will be screened at a gala event in the applicable regions. Students, parents, teachers, etc. are invited to attend the gala to screen the short films.
What is the objective of the film festival?
To draw attention to the United Nations World Environment Day (June 5), promote environmental awareness and showcase student climate action.
Will my film be accepted?
PiF will endeavour to screen as many films as possible at the gala event. It is not possible to guarantee that all submitted films will be included in the gala. However, PiF intends to showcase all the films on their website and select films at our main festival in Toronto, October 2019.
What if I need help with the filmmaking?
PiF can arrange for a professional filmmaker to visit your school to work on story-boarding, film shooting and/or film editing. Fees could potentially be subsidized depending on the school region.
